Hows this look? Do you use Spotify? Would you want to follow me?
Facebook and Twitter (part 2)
Well, I really didn't want to be on Facebook and Twitter, but if I want to be able to effectively promote my music elsewhere , other sites make it really hard to use their services without Facebook and Twitter. That didn't last long. I'll do it, but I won't like it.
The Grand Who Am I is finally on iTunes!
At long last "The Grand Who Am I" has been set up on iTunes. Now for the rest of the online sales sites. Also, I was officially confirmed as a Spotify artist for The Grand Who Am I. I'm excited to start working a lot with that site. Stay tuned!
Hey Spotify!
Genres
I have never been very good about sticking to one genre. Lots of band just have their instruments and sound and write one song and make that one song into an album and go on their merry way. When I write songs it doesn't occur to me much, that I should be constraining my songs to one certain sound. I go where where the song takes me. I'm not usually trying to sound like anyone else either, so that really doesn't help things in the "genre" area.
All is fine and dandy until I go to sell and promote my album and the first thing every site in the world wants to know is: What's your genre!" I understand it makes it easier for people to find my music, but then someone that loves the song "I Will Wait For You" if they first listen to "Ups and Downs" and decide that's what my music is all about, chances are they will never even know that "I Wll Wait For You" exists. Noooooooo! This has happened to me in the past with previous musical projects.
Please don't judge a band by one song. Try at least three before you pass judgment.
We are on YouTube
Soon all the songs will be on youtube. I guess this is a good start:
And we're off!
The album is released! I just released it on this website as well as bandcamp: https://thegrandwhoami.bandcamp.com
It is also release via cdbaby but great googily moogily we have a major technical issue with the project name. It seems I confused "Artist Name" with my name so instead of "The Grand Who Am I" it's currently listed as "Sheldon Boyd Reynolds". Ouch. I use cdbaby for mass distribution all over the world, so that's going to take some time to correct. Otherwise everything else is going great. Thank you for listening!
Official release date: Sunday, November 26th
I'm so ready for this! I've been brushing up on ways to promote this music. A lot of music promoters seem to suggest that I should jam my music down peoples throats, have a new song to release once a week, and drain my life savings just so I can have a chance to have my music heard and judged by a "music professional". Uhhh... no thanks. I'm not trying to start a new musical religious cult here. People will like it or they won't. Of course mass appeal would be wonderful, but I don't kid myself. There is tons of music besides mine that SHOULD be heard. I don't really care to hear music by the band that paid the most for me to hear it. That kind of music is consumed and forgotten. I would like to be remembered just a little bit maybe.
Facebook and Twitter
I don't like facebook or twitter. I'm on both, but I pretty much avoid them. There is something really sick about those sites. I'm not planning on using them for this project either, at least for now. I'd rather my music not be on either. What do you think?
Almost time
So ready for the release. Ready to finally share what I've been working on for the last few years. I have set up sales here, through cdbaby distribution and bandcamp.com.
