I have never been very good about sticking to one genre. Lots of band just have their instruments and sound and write one song and make that one song into an album and go on their merry way. When I write songs it doesn't occur to me much, that I should be constraining my songs to one certain sound. I go where where the song takes me. I'm not usually trying to sound like anyone else either, so that really doesn't help things in the "genre" area.
All is fine and dandy until I go to sell and promote my album and the first thing every site in the world wants to know is: What's your genre!" I understand it makes it easier for people to find my music, but then someone that loves the song "I Will Wait For You" if they first listen to "Ups and Downs" and decide that's what my music is all about, chances are they will never even know that "I Wll Wait For You" exists. Noooooooo! This has happened to me in the past with previous musical projects.
Please don't judge a band by one song. Try at least three before you pass judgment.
